View of Optimism
"View of Optimism", the Willimantic Juvenile Court Art Project, is a collaboration between Judge Francis Foley, the Design Group, part of ECSU’s Visual Arts Department, and Windham County elementary and middle schools. The Design Group is a senior project experience for Eastern Digital Art & Design seniors in which students use their creative skills to connect with and contribute to the local community. As a result of this project, artwork by students ages K-College now enlivens the once dreary lobby, hallways, and court rooms of the Willimantic Juvenile Courthouse, sending messages of hope, strength and courage to the children and families who visit the building. Along with the banners are thirty pieces of children’s artwork from the Windham County Public Schools, collected and curated by an Eastern Art History student.
