Featured Program

Nassau Community College
The Center for Arts & Humanities at Nassau Community College has announced a college-wide theme for the 2008-09 academic year entitled, “1900-1910: Looking Back 100 Years ~ A Centennial Celebration”. The theme is not only intended to focus on the ideas which shaped the first decade of the 20th century, but also to illuminate on how these ideas continue to impact on the world today. A growing schedule of programs includes a silent film festival; a college-wide essay contest; a theatre production of Anton Chekhov’s The Seagull; an exhibit on Pablo Picasso and his legacy of abstraction; and a multi-disciplinary symposium, “Looking Back 100 Years: The Making of the Modern Mind”. All events are open to the public.

The Center for Arts & Humanities seeks to generate programs that build community and foster the sharing of ideas within and especially across academic disciplines. In this spirit, it is anticipated that the "Centennial" theme will create a forum that unifies academic endeavors, thereby enriching the collective experience of all those who come to Nassau Community College.
